Sometimes when life feels like it's completely out of control and your world has been turned upside down, having one hour a week you can count on can be life changing. Whether you are struggling with anxiety or depression, having a hard time connecting with the people in your life, going through a major life transition or loss, questioning your career choice, or simply trying to figure out how to feel like yourself again, I am here to support and guide you through that process. The right balance of support and challenge in therapy can often help you to unlock any "stuck" areas and empower you to re-create your life.
POSTPARTUM STRESS DISORDERS
Do you find yourself yelling at your kids when you had always envisioned yourself as the perfect mother? While motherhood can be full of joys that take your breath away, it can also be downright exhausting. Let's just be honest- even the best mothers also need to be taken care of sometimes. If you are not feeling like yourself (or it's hard to even remember what that feels like), it's time to get support and ideas about how to handle the unique stressors in your life right now. Figuring out how to take excellent care of yourself and your mental health can be a huge investment in your family's well-being. I have specialized training in the treatment of Postpartum Depression and Anxiety and am especially interested in working with motherless mothers.
You don't have to do this alone. Many of the women I work with are real go-getters and are used to seeing results when they work hard and have a well-thought-out-plan. Unfortunately, sometimes life just doesn't work like that. Whether you are grieving the loss of a pregnancy, gearing up for infertility treatments, or feeling discouraged about yet another negative pregnancy test, you deserve extra support and someone to help you challenge some of the irrational thoughts that are so common. If you are having a hard time getting (or staying) pregnant, it does not mean that you will not be a good mother or that you are not meant to be a mother. Finding your way through infertility requires an incredible amount of endurance, resilience, and support. And sometimes it means that I have enough hope for both of us during the really dark times.
